About the Course

Finance is widely seen as an obstacle to a better world. Principles of Sustainable Finance explains how the financial sector can be mobilized to counter this. Using finance as a means to achieve social goals we can divert the planet and its economy from its current path to a world that is sustainable for all. Throughout this course, you will learn about the UN Sustainable Development Goals, how social and environmental factors should not be regarded as externalities, you will learn more about sustainable banking and asset management, about effective engagement, sustainable scenario analysis and long-term value creation. At the end of this course you will understand how sustainable finance can be used as a tool to steer the sustainability transition....

A very interesting and easy to follow course if you want to learn about sustainable financing practices. The reading material helps in engaging more deeply with the current practices in this sector.

Very insightful and practical in application. Allows a student to apply the tools to assess sustainability of a company and deliver the mechanisms to optimize finance for the right outcomes.

The course overall was a good introduction to many of the main topics and issues in the area

- I liked that the course had regular summaries and quizzes to re-affirm key points. However, there were typos in some questions, others had unclear intent or were ambiguously worded, and the correct answer is not displayed (to correct learning mistakes) if you get something wrong - so if you pass the segment overall, you aren't quickly told where you went a little astray

- The TED talks are great resources but not sure that's something to pay for when freely online

- Some areas were excellent (e.g. discussions of sustainable lending and the approach from some Dutch banks), other areas were vague (Modelling) with little take-home message

- Some videos had unnecessary intro/exit scenes

- The extra reading materials, on the whole, were excellent. They gave an opportunity to dive really deep, and were a highlight for me. However, they should be integrated into the course to be more thorough, and should have more accurate reading times

- I think a few elements in the course need a refresher - there is mention of passive index benchmarking being something that is not prevalent enough yet in markets... I think the issue these days is that there are too many, which sets up a new set of issues, which should be addressed

On the whole, glad I did the course, some areas were excellent but the course needs a refreshing to ensure it is up-to-date and well composed (which would bring this up to 5 star)

Zeer informatie!

All I learned from this course could have been condensed. Why the certificate says 'Coursera Learner' instead of my name? That was so disappointing after all this time

I reallly enjoyed it, especially the lecturers. There was some repetition at times and a few of the questions were asked in strange ways that didn't make sense.

I wish there were more business case studies. It would have made the concepts clearer and see how theory is adapted in the real world.

It was quite a broad overview of sustainable finance. I would have preferred a course with more technical knowledge.

Although it calls each module "week 1, week 2, etc", it gave 1-2 days to complete each module according to the :assignments/grades. start date : march 13, 9 modules, end date march 24.

Not that engaging; started strong and then the quality declined; content was very general and broad with less specifics and data

Interesting course but to high level. Sometimes a bit to optimistic too, nothing is mentioned about degrowth for instance.
