Very good course but maybe too easy and too slow

The rating is for the entire program. The course is designed to give recent computer science, math, statistics, or related area graduates - the kind of background that will actually be considered for data analysis jobs - the soft skills needed for an entry level post. The soft skills are important, but they could be condensed and the course could focus more on the technical skills with more exercises and challenges. The technical part, in turn, is very superficial and teaches the very basic of spreadsheets, SQL, and R. The Capstone project is good practice, but doesn't mean much without some sort of validation of review.

I would give 5 stars to the rest of the Google Data Analytics courses, they were amazing!

For the capstone course, however, I kind of felt like I was off on my own. I wish they had did a little more hand holding and walked me step by step through a case study using all of the steps we had learned before in the other classes, but all together now at once. Then, we could do another on our own. I had to find examples online and try to read through what they did first before I completely understood what I'm supposed to be doing. Overall, I loved the course and I'm definitely going to take the Advanced version next.

I wish there was more options to Fast-Track through sections. While I liked aspects like Resume/Interview process and Graphic Design, I felt sections were sometimes overly dense. Overall a great course for people wanting an introduction to data analytics and to feel if it is a good career for them. Having an engineering background, I encountered many of the topics prior to the course so I am biased in that regard.

I dont feel like i learned any analytical skills. Are there really jobs out there that are looking for someone to tell them the min, max, and mean of a data set? I was expecting to use some statistical methods like T-tests, Chi square, and ANOVA.

I thought it was a good course but had a little too much "fluff" and less repetition that I would have preferred in order to help retain the knowledge better.

I am disappointed I was unable to use SQL to merge separate data sets into one because of the data limits in Big Query.

Wish there was more instructions on actual job hunting.

The level of this course is very low. It contains a lot of supposedly motivating repetitions. The things which are taught are not sufficient to finish the capstone project in the last course. Worse, the taught strategy turned out to totally not help for working on a practical problem. If you already have an idea what data analytics might be, this course is not for you. It does contain a decent first introductions to spreadsheets, tableau and R on a level of a first tutorial. It does contain lots of career advice, so if you are looking for that, this course might be helpful for you. In retrospect I must say I wasted a huge amount of time on it in the hope that finally there will be some gems in it. There are not.

For people newer to Data Analytics there should have been more guidence in the Capstone Project like it was throughout the training. it's a lot of information all at once that we are getting throughout the course; so to dive in without help was extermely frustrating. It really made the process of creating the capstone project less enjoyable and not something I would want to share with potential employers.

The course was too long. It could be simplified to half the time. Using R in lieu of Python is not ideal, not for a first language. The SQL was too basic and took way too long to cover. The course material is too long, irrelevant in large portions.

Some concepts could have been explained a lot better.

The capstone needs to be revamped. I'm a bit disappointed.

Only R no SQL or Tableau

The information given to produce a case study did not give clear directions. I spent weeks simply trying to understand what the case study actually wanted me to do. I did not know what problems I was trying to solve, the instructions were unclear or non-existent. In the end, there were no real resources to give any assistance.

Unfortunately I was not able to complete a case study. The data set given are too large for learners that can only use online platforms and not full version of platforms. In the discussion forum I could see I am not the only one, and even though I asked mentors a couple of times how to resolve the issue, no one has responded.

Content not good, not arranged mannerly, its a headache course.

Course started out ok up to the really cute Sally and went downhill from there by all other presenters who seem to be talking to a wall rather than a human being who is trying to learn.

The first 7 courses didn't prepare me for the capstone. I tried to see peoples example of a case study and they had different tools and knowledge the course didn't give us.

not enough resources for help, instruction in previous courses doesn't prepare you well enough. lots of tech issues throughout the entire course. largely unhelpful.

This course should've been like one video maybe an hour long, that's all. I have learnt more from youtube in a day than from this whole course in weeks...

This course really tests the knowledge and skills obtained in the previous 7 courses, and basically everything that one has to study and research to complement what was learned in the previous 7 courses of this course. From my point of view, the completion of this capstone has been very valuable. I was very unclear about how to solve a practical problem like this project. The publications of the capstones of my colleagues who have preceded me in this same program helped me a lot, but I could not understand how to solve the "business task" from a quantitative point of view, which I can only do through appropriate metrics. Little by little I realized that the answer could arise by "looking at" what the data under study wanted to show, if I could observe it from different angles, so I had to make many graphs, which included simultaneously in a single graph the greatest number of variables at the same time, and thus have a complete panoramic view of the entire set of possible results. The culminating point happened when I let the data speak for itself and I was only its interpreter. From that moment on I realized what the data was saying out loud with respect to the solution of the "Business Task" and this based on certain metrics. Obviously my skill level as a data analyst corresponds to a person who is just starting out in this career, but after completing this capstone, I feel very proud, in the good sense of this phrase, and trained to solve this type of data analysis at the level where I am today, and this is undoubtedly due to the completion of this project: Google Data Analytics Capstone: Complete a Case Study/Case Study 1: How does a bike-share navigate speedy success?. Without a doubt, I must thank the Coursera staff and the Google staff for everything they do so that I have been able to complete this course satisfactorily.
